Avery Dennison® Squid Textile

Introduction

Squid is a self-adhesive and transparent fabric for the decoration of windows, doors, and glass partitions. It is available in six different colors. In addition to being a decorative and minimalist coating for glazing, it also offers varying degrees of privacy, thermal comfort, and visual comfort depending on the chosen color. Squid is printable with eco-solvent and UV-curable inks, with a dedicated version also for printing with latex inks.

Transformation

Squid Textile has been developed for use on flat glass surfaces such as windows, doors, and partitions. Suitable for digital cutting on flatbed cutters (Zund / Esko / Summa), Squid Textile is moisture-resistant and can also be applied in hot and humid environments.

Squid can be printed with solvent-based and eco-solvent inks and UV-curable inks on various super-wide format printers. Additionally, Squid Chalk (latex) can also be printed with latex inks. The use of generic ICC textile profiles is recommended, and there is no need for additional lamination film. Before starting a project, it is always recommended to conduct an application test to ensure satisfactory product performance before full project implementation. In case of uncertainty, you can always contact Avery Dennison for assistance or recommendations.

Note: Squid Textile has a low initial tack to ensure easy repositioning during application. Once properly positioned, it is of utmost importance to apply sufficient pressure (10 kg) using a hard squeegee to ensure that the adhesive adheres properly to the surface.

Physical Properties

NOTE: In the case of printing, materials must be properly dried before further processing. Residual solvents could alter product specifications. Before application (or printing), Squid® rolls must remain for at least 1 hour outside their original packaging at a stable temperature between 15°C and 22°C. Squid® must be kept tightly rolled on its cardboard core. If Squid® has been transported or stored at a temperature below 15°C, the acclimatization period must be at least 4 hours.

2) Storage Conditions

Squid® can be stored horizontally in its original packaging for a duration of 2 years in an area with the following characteristics: Temperature of 15 to 25°C / RH of 10 to 55%. To avoid the formation of air bubbles and creases that could cause permanent deformations, Squid® must always be kept tight around its cardboard core, with its start and end secured with tape at three evenly spaced points on the roll, i.e., far left, middle, and far right. Squid® rolls can be stored vertically and horizontally. In the latter case, the surface must be chosen to avoid damage (printing).

3) Sustainability

Squid has a lifespan of at least 5 years provided that Squid® is properly applied to a vertical glass surface and used without any removal and repositioning after the adhesive activation. Strict adherence to storage, application, and maintenance instructions is necessary to ensure the lifespan of Squid®.
